We use the word nonchalantly throughout our lives, but what is trauma?

Trauma refers to distressing or disturbing experiences that overpowers your coping mechanisms. It can be caused by a single incident or it can result from prolonged exposure to stressful situations, such as abuse, neglect, rejection or ongoing conflict. It's really important to understand that everyone responds to experiences differently, so what may be traumatic for one person may hardly faze another. Thus, trauma isn't always monumental, it can be something seemingly small.

Traumatic experiences leave lasting harm or damage to your emotional and psychological well-being. This impact is what we call your wounding.

These emotional or psychological wounds manifest as deep-seated emotional pain, low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, or difficulty forming healthy relationships. These wounds have long-lasting effects on your mental health and overall quality of life if they are ignored. Ignored wounding perpetuates cycles of pain – keeping you in loops of fear-based decisions, actions, and reactions. It's similar to being manipulated by a puppet master (your unconscious mind) until you confront and heal from your past traumas.

Trauma is a puppet master pulling your strings

There is no freedom in running away from it. There is no freedom in ignoring it. There is no freedom in pretending you do not have any trauma or wounding from the past - you do. We all do. Avoidance only prolongs your captivity. There isn’t a single person who does not need to awaken from their unconsciousness and into a life of consciousness — of freedom from their own detrimental thought patterns.

You will very rarely be aware that you have trauma and wounding until (a) you consciously make a decision to face yourself and acknowledge the pain in your past (big or small) or (b) you are suddenly forced to face your pain due to a big upheaval in your life. You will always be a puppet to your unconscious mind until you dig into yourself. Until then, your life remains under the sway of unresolved pain, and your actions and decisions will be puppeteered by your past experiences.

When the time is right, I'm here to guide you back into the driver's seat of your life. I’ll help you take back your life from your unconscious mind and step into consciousness.
